The risk of skin cancer is increasing: AI-based prevention saves lives!

The risk of skin cancer is increasing: AI-based prevention saves lives!

Due to increasing UV exposure, the incidence of skin cancer has been rising continuously for decades. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the figures will continue to rise over the next 10 years. On the other hand, however, there are not enough dermatologists, which leads to long waiting times for skin cancer screening, for example. In Germany, not even 50 % of those entitled to do so make use of this service. This is where SkinScreener comes into play, allowing laypeople to obtain a risk assessment for questionable skin lesions. The simple smartphone application can motivate people with possible skin cancer to visit a dermatologist. SkinScreener can also be used for self-examinations between screening appointments. The collaboration between SCOR and medaia aims to make SkinScreener available to as many policyholders as possible in order to detect and treat skin cancer earlier.

The Interplay of Quality and Information in Insurance Markets

The Interplay of Quality and Information in Insurance Markets

ESG criteria such as energy efficiency class (EEK), CO₂ equivalents and primary energy demand must be applied in residential building insurance in order to do justice to the improvement of energy efficiency after a loss, the consideration of sustainability trends and proof via ESG criteria, among other things. Schleswiger Versicherungsverein a. G. is planning to roll out a new residential building insurance policy for privately used detached and semi-detached houses. What is new and unique to date is that the energy data of the properties significantly influences the calculation of the insurance premiums with regard to the ESG KPIs: The better the EEK and the younger the property age, the more favourable the impact on the insurance premium as a thank you for the sustainability-conscious consumer. The SkenData API is integrated into the fully automated quotation and application process of Schleswiger Versicherung a. G. for this purpose. The entire process remains on the insurer's user interface and is expanded to include the query and automated delivery of ESG KPIs. The energy assessment as well as various energy measures and their impact on CO₂ equivalents, EEK and energy demand are carried out and simulated with the joint solution. Together, we create a green residential building insurance that rewards sustainability and avoids greenwashing in the residential building product.

If you want to inspire customers, as an insurer you must first and foremost optimise processes - several thousand at our cooperation partner ERGO Insurance Group alone. With our Celonis Process Mining Tool, our partner has reached a new level. So convincing that we have entered into a strategic partnership. Due to inflation and other effects, costs are rising in many areas of life. This also has an impact on insurance - claims sums are climbing and insurance policies are becoming more expensive. If insurers want to remain reliable for their customers in the future, with fair prices and good service, they also need to address cost and claims ratios. With process mining, we can reconstruct and visualise every single business transaction based on the data points in the customer's IT systems. In this way, we provide insurers with a technology that enables them to reduce cost and loss ratios, align processes more closely with the customer, reduce the time to claims settlement and identify optimisation potential. Together with our partner ERGO, we have already modified 7 processes with the Celonis methodology in 2022. In 2023, the number was more than doubled. 16 processes in 9 countries, including Thailand, India, UK, Spain, Austria and Lithuania were analysed. Our partner set up its own unit. Our interim result - processes shortened by 3 days and 10 % more automation.
